THREE PIN LINK

In the mid-2000s, Sherwood Scuba created an ingenious depth compensation concept. Using the combination of a flat flexible membrane, a metal plate, and an internal solid mechanical link to transfer external pressure, the SR2 became the first ever flow-through piston regulator that resolved all the issues from its predecessors. With the addition of the 3PL, Sherwood Scuba’s SR2 is unique; it is a flow-through piston system that is both Sealed & Dry, AND it is not messy to work on.

MOISTURE RETENTION VANES

The Oasis Pro model features the Sherwood exclusive dual Moisture Retention Vanes “MRVs” that capture moisture from the diver’s exhalation. During the inhalation part of the breathing cycle, the same humidity is placed back in the inhaled air, considerably reducing the diver’s dry mouth sensation during the dive.

AIR-ASSISTED DEPTH COMPENSATION TECH

The Sherwood 9000 Series 1st Stage is another “anomaly” on the market today. It is the only flow-by piston system in the world that features an ingenious design that uses inner pneumatic force to compensate for depth while keeping the internals environmentally sealed and dry. As the diver goes deeper, a flexible membrane connected to a metal plate actuates over a valve. This releases internal pressure that travels to the piston flange, positioning the mechanism so the air supply is consistent throughout the dive regardless of depth.

ONE TOUCH PERFORMANCE ADJUSTMENT

The One Touch Performance Adjustment is a clever system capable of controlling two functions at the same time: The Venturi Effect and Breathing Resistance. At the surface, to prevent free flow, the diver can rotate the OTPA clockwise to divert the airflow, decreasing the venturi effect and slightly increasing the breathing resistance. This translates to a very stable 2nd stage after the diver jumps in the water and greatly reduces the free flow opportunity. As the dive progresses, the diver can now rotate the OTPA counterclockwise to obtain the best and smoothest breathing resistance with a direct flow as the venturi effect increases.

OPPOSITE PIVOTING POINT

OPP is a design that positions the demand lever at the far end of the valve body, contrary to all other valve body designs currently used in 2nd stages. In general, this design provides much better leverage during inhalation, reducing the breathing effort. When used in the Blizzard Pro, while in extreme conditions, this valve body design reduces the freezing opportunity to an absolute minimum. This concept has proven to be one of the best ice diving technologies out there.

SEAT SAVING FLOATING CROWN

The SSFC is another brilliant engineering solution that prevents premature wear over the LP seat when the sharp edge of a crown pushes in. Sherwood’s exclusive SSFC design does not exert constant pressure over the LP seat when the regulator gets depressurized and is not in use. Other regulators on the market use a threadable crown or orifice that seats in one position permanently causing a constant force over the LP seat, sometimes marking it to the point it is no longer effective.
